Organisation – the WMA
Access to greater resources
Our Members are able to draw on the knowledge and experience of 145 Board Members who give their time freely to serve you, as custodians of our wonderful lowland environment. We collectively employ 54 people and meet all of the requirements now stipulated by DEFRA. Each Member Board, with the help of the WMA, provides a 24/7 flood response, surface water drainage and water level management service for the benefit of those living and working in our Drainage Districts.
Management Structure
Each Member Board has its own Engineer and usually an Operations Manager, which together with the WMAs shared employees that provide the ancillary services, constitute their management teams. Shared employees mainly operate from the group’s central office in King's Lynn and are directed by the Consortium Management Committee. The reporting structure for shared employees is shown in the WMAs Organisation Chart. The WMA administration supports each Member Board’s organisation, which can also be viewed and downloaded from the constituent Board’s ‘Organisation’ webpage.
