To minimise the impact of these Drainage Rates and Special Levies the Board:

Collects contributions from developers where proposals necessitate either immediate or future improvement to the drainage system.
|

2.
|
Collects commuted sums from developers for adopting and thereafter maintaining drainage systems.
|
|
3.
|
Charges fees for processing applications to relax the Byelaws and to alter the flow of ordinary watercourses.
|
|
4.
|
Applies for grant monies to reduce the cost of carrying out all capital and environmental improvement works.
|
|
5.
|
Charges landowners for undertaking a range of ditching work.
|
|
6.
|
Charges the full cost of providing a range of services incidental to its statutory functions.
|
|
7.
|
Collects rents, licence fees and acknowledgements from its tenants and licensees.
|
|
8.
|
Seeks to maximise interest receivable by investing temporary cash surpluses on the short-term money market, in accordance with their Investment Strategy.

Drainage Rates and Special Levies
After having taken into account this Income from other sources the Board:

1.

Sets the drainage rate and special levies each year based on an estimate of its net expenditure, which can be viewed and downloaded from our website.
|
|
2.
|
Seeks to limit any increases to the Retail Price Index, as indicated by the Office for National Statistics for the month of October every year.
